Private Access Psychiatry
Amy Edwards, MD
Psychiatrist · Concierge Virtual Practice · California
Physician-led psychiatric care for people who need more than a prescription and a timer.
About
I'm a psychiatrist in private concierge practice, seeing patients virtually across California. My practice is intentionally small — I keep a limited panel so every appointment has the time and attention it deserves.
I trained in emergency medicine at the University of Michigan before switching to psychiatry — not because it was easier, but because I kept seeing what happened when people didn't get care that actually reached them. I've practiced in nearly every psychiatric setting: inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, state behavioral health program development, and medical executive roles. I've worked in major cities, mid-sized cities, and remote rural Alaska providing care to Native Alaskan communities.
I went into private practice ten years ago because I wanted to build something intentional. I permanently relocated to California two years ago and now practice exclusively via telehealth across the state.
What I do
- Diagnostic evaluation and clarification
- Medication management
- Substance use and co-occurring disorders
- Adolescent and adult psychiatry (ages 10+)
- Sleep evaluation and treatment
- Clinician-guided coping tools and behavioral health resources
Who I work with
Adults, adolescents, and children age 10 and up across California. My patients tend to value discretion, thoughtful care, and a physician relationship — not a revolving door. I also work closely with referring providers: therapists, pediatricians, concierge physicians, and educational professionals who want a psychiatric partner they can actually reach.
Training & background
- MD — University of Michigan Medical School
- Residency — Emergency Medicine, University of Michigan (initial match)
- Psychiatry residency training
- Inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, and state program experience
- Medical executive and program development roles
- Rural and underserved care, including Native Alaskan communities
My approach
"I will not talk down to you. I will not pretend the hard things are simple. I will also not pretend the simple things are harder than they are. Appointments are long enough to matter. The goal is always more of you — not less."
